A few thoughts about my experiences with Quail Haven
I picked Quail Haven at a difficult time in my life with little thought or study of Independent Living Facilities. I don’t think I even thought about the fact I would not know anyone there. I am eternally grateful that it has turned out to be such a great decision.
I barely remember seeing the type of unit I was renting, but when I started moving in, I was thrilled. It consisted of two nice size bedrooms—one of which I would use as a den for my computer, nice sized living room, bath and fully equipped kitchen. All the appliances appeared to be new, the carpeting, floors, counter-tops, paint were all new and of exceptional quality. It was lovely and had wonderful views of the grounds with red roses, crepe myrtle trees, and flower beds.
I also want to comment on the Quail Haven personnel. Everyone was so helpful from Charles who hung all my pictures to Holly who provided endless rides, Kim who cleaned the apt., Donnie who helped with my clothes, the waitresses in the dining room who knew you wanted ice tea and had it on the table before you sat down. I have to mention the kitchen personnel who put out really good meals—and if you didn’t like the daily menu had an “Always available” list so that you could always find something. I also have to mention the activity planners who could keep us all busy with bridge, poker, Bingo, musical concerts, art class, bowling, exercise classes, lunch excursions, shopping trips, etc.,
My last comment is for the residents — One resident described it perfectly as being part of a family. Within a week, I felt I had some very lovely new friends — Now 2 months later I have many new friends and thank them all for make me feel welcome and included.
